Glass Thickness Selection Guide
August 10, 2026 · 5 min read
Thickness is not a matter of taste: it is set by span, fixing method and expected load.

The larger the unsupported span, the thicker the glass needs to be.
Panel up to 1 m²: 6 mm is usually enough.
1 to 2.5 m²: 8 mm.
Above 2.5 m² or point-fixed: 10 - 12 mm.
These are guide figures; the final calculation depends on wind load and fixing method.
